B is for Bob – a Honeycomb Hurmfler!
.
As may be deduced from the name, honey forms the base of their ration. Hurmflers (aka Bear Slugs) produce special pheromones to fool the bees into letting them enter the hive. Thick slime-covered skin provides extra protection.
.
Fun fact: If despite all the protective measures the animal gets stung while hurmfling the honeycombs, it might swell up and fall off the tree. This typically results in no damage but few clumsy bounces, wounded pride and a long way back.
