Due to their utter vulnerability, Porcelain Duchesses spend most of the time in portable homes they build from empty shells, cans or other seashore junk, and only risk leaving it to gain some extra mobility during the lunch time.

Fun fact: Commonly known as Mermaid’s Crowns, these delicate creatures are worshiped by humans and inhabit many local folk tales as the eternal attendants of water spirits. Birds, on the other hand, just find them juicy.
