Kozinarium: Charcoal Leviathan

Please welcome Kelvin – a Charcoal Leviathan, and his evil twin Kevin – a Meadow Leviathan!

Out of 2 species of Leviathans currently known to science, Charcoal are usually spotted at night while Meadow ones seem to prefer daylight. Both feed on small flying insects and prefer moist climate.

One theory suggests that the coloration difference is caused by the symbiotic algae covering the bodies of Meadow Leviathans, another just states it’s only a pigmentation difference and the two are in fact the same species.

Fun fact: Leviathans spin to facilitate digestion, which involves tiny pebbles grinding the food inside and produces the levitation gas as a by-product. An extremely satisfying process not unlike massage for Leviathans, both Charcoal and Meadow ones.
