The crest on top of the body serves as a sensing organ, and Trolls prefer to keep their mouths shut in order to conceal themselves. Ambiguous body shape also helps confusing predators about their possible escape direction.

Fun fact: Cabbage Trolls are likely named after their habitat rather than diet – they feed on slugs and small insects among the garden beds and are generally valued by farmers. Despite their vast worldwide presence, no species have ever been observed in Ireland.
